Nature Finds

As long as I can remember I have always been interested in nature. As a child I would spend hours in the park climbing trees, catching frogs and collecting pine cones. It was very rare that I would be inside the house and every chance I got me and my sister would be out in the park.

One thing I remember about being young is that my mother had an obsession with flowers. Every time we went on holiday, we would come back with a camera full of random flower pictures. We laughed about it a lot as children, looking through pictures and sending flowers pop up everywhere. She has a passion for it and still does. So it is clear where I get my love for flowers and gardening from and she really is a flower geek. I can ask her what any flower is and 9 x 10 she will know what it is.

I have been pressing flowers for a little while now but just before we went to Scotland I decided to start my own nature journal. I wanted somewhere I could keep all my findings. Gradually it has started turning into more of a memory book but for flowers. I am filling it with finds from our adventures, memories and knowledge so when we have children (hopefully I will pass on my passion to them) they can look through this book and be inspired to start their own.

I can't wait to fill each page with my finds, photos and drawings. It is such a lovely way to pass the time and although I don't know the names of all my finds just yet, it makes it fun searching the net for the answers, or going to my mum who is the walking book of flowers. Got to love her.
