Letter Writing

13:27

Sometimes in life we are introduced to such wonderful people and some of those people become pen pals. Growing up I always used to write letters to my cousin who lived down in Devon at the time. We would always send each other little goodies and our letters were mainly about boys.

It is so rare now days that people write letters to each other due to the simple fact people are lazy (me included). When we have email, facebook etc at our finger tips why bother spending an hour writing a letter that will then take a few days to get to someone... Well I say we should bother!

When did we become so lazy that the thought of sitting down and writing a letter to someone became a chore. Social media is great but there is nothing like writing a heart felt letter to someone I love and I am going to pledge now to do it a lot more. To make more time to start and actually finish a letter.

Finding cute little treats to go inside my letters is my favourite part and above is a few bits I am sending to someone special this week. A cute little vintage Christmas postcard, some dried flowers, a little bottle fill of glitter and more dried flowers and a little mini acorn (made by me),  some lovely Grace Face hair slides, a broken piece of pottery, a pretty embroidered hanky, a wooden little squirrel and a cute washi tape bunting I made.

Seriously, nothing beats knowing someone will receive all these special goodies. The knowing how excited they will be when they arrive home from work to see a package especially for them. That is why letter writing is so much more rewarding than email or facebook.

I HEREBY SWEAR TO WRITE MORE LETTERS. TO MAKE SOMEONE FEEL SPECIAL. TO BRIGHTEN THEIR DAY AND JUST TO TRY.

  1. I love this post! I have been meaning to stock up on pretty stationery so I can start writing letters to faraway friends. I imagine sending little trinkets and poems and such, and decorating the envelopes with fancy lettering, and doodles too! I'd like to be your penpal one day. xoxo

  2. This is beautiful. I have to agree the written word is so much more beautiful. Receiving a beautiful envelope filled with a letter, a vintage postcard and trinkets is the most wonderful thing.
I have been lazy with writing to friends but this has inspired me to get back into it, so I thank you!
